Script Reader is an accessible script-navigation system for actors with limited hand mobility. Instead of handling paper scripts or relying on a shared projection, actors see their lines on a large screen, and the script can be advanced from a simple controller view.
The system has two web views: a controller, run from a laptop beside the stage, and an actor/audience view that shows the scene name, the character and the current line in large high-contrast type. In the Journey Through Oz performances in August 2026 it doubled as live captioning for both the actors and the audience.
This is a software project rather than a fabrication one. The photos show it in use: a Glinda line from Munchkinland on the stage display, and the controller running on a laptop at the tech table during a performance.
Tips: test font size and contrast from the actors' actual positions on stage, and give the controller large, forgiving buttons; whoever runs it is watching the stage, not the screen.
